Job Description:
A CVICU nurse, or cardiovascular intensive care unit nurse, is a
registered nurse (RN) who specializes in caring for critically ill
patients with cardiovascular conditions, such as heart attacks,
heart failure, and cardiac surgeries. The following are some of the
primary responsibilities of a CVICU nurse:
Patient assessment: conducting comprehensive patient assessments,
including monitoring vital signs, reviewing medical history, and
identifying potential complications.
Monitoring: continuously monitoring patients' cardiovascular status
and responding to changes in their condition, including adjusting
medications and treatments as needed.
Intervention: performing interventions, such as administering
medications, adjusting mechanical ventilators, and managing fluid
and electrolyte balance, to maintain patients' cardiovascular
stability.
Communication: communicating with interdisciplinary teams,
including physicians, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists, to
coordinate care and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Patient and family education: educating patients and their families
about their conditions, treatments, and prognosis, and addressing
any concerns or questions they may have.
Documentation: accurately documenting patient information and
treatments, including medication administration, vital signs, and
any adverse reactions or changes in condition.
The ideal candidate for a CVICU nurse position should have a
current registered nursing license, a Bachelor of Science in
Nursing (BSN) degree, and experience working in a critical care or
intensive care setting. Additionally, a CVICU nurse should have
strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, the ability to
work well in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, and
excellent patient care skills.
This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
